Health & safety policy statement

The Devonshire Group places great importance on the health, safety and welfare (H&S) of its employees and visitors. The Group acknowledges its responsibility to provide safe systems of work, a safe and healthy workplace and a safe working environment. We also aim to ensure our activities do not jeopardise the health, safety and welfare of contractors and visitors.

The Chief Executive and Trustees will ensure that an appropriate risk management structure exists for H&S and for monitoring the continuing improvement of H&S practices. Good H&S practice is an essential element of good management and our aim is to provide an appropriate response at all times.

The Group, through this policy, will:

  • Specify responsibilities for safety duties and ensure that these are both understood and practised
  • Promote safe behaviour
  • Identify risks to health & safety and implement, wherever reasonably practicable, appropriate measures to deal with them
  • Ensure that H&S activity is adequately resourced
  • Establish and maintain safe places of work; safe systems of work; safe plant and equipment
  • Provide information and training in H&S matters as appropriate
  • Maintain a health & safety management system (HSMS) to improve standards of H&S in the Group

To assist the Chief Executive and Trustees in achieving their objectives, it is the duty of all staff and visitors to act responsibly with regard to H&S matters, to do everything reasonably practicable to prevent injury to themselves or others and to co-operate fully with the Group in implementing H&S initiatives.
